Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups of granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup of whole milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set it aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set the bowl aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This can be done using a stand mixer or handheld mixer on medium speed for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the eggs to the butter-sugar mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is incorporated.
  • Stir in the pure vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined after each addition. Avoid overmixing as it can lead to a dense cake.
  • Once the batter is smooth and well-combined, pour it into the greased loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 50-60 minutes. The exact baking time may vary, so keep an eye on the cake. To test for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean or with a few crumbs clinging to it, the cake is ready.
  • Once fully baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. This allows the cake to set before transferring it to a wire rack for further cooling.
  • After the cake has cooled completely, it is ready to be served. You can enjoy it as is or add a dusting of powdered sugar, a dollop of whipped cream, or a side of fresh berries for added flavor and presentation.
