Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or more applesauce for a low-fat version
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional
  • ½ cup raisins optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
  • In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
