Ingredients

  • Oranges: You’ll need 5-6 medium oranges to yield approximately 2 and 1/2 cups 600ml of orange juice.
  • Honey: Use 2-3 tablespoons of honey adjusting based on the sweetness of your oranges.
  • Cornstarch: 1/2 cup 65g is needed to thicken the dessert.

Optional Garnish:

  • Desiccated Coconut: A sprinkle for texture and flavor.
  • Candied Cherries and Mint Leaves: For a pop of color and a fresh look.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Orange Juice: Squeeze the juice from 5-6 medium oranges until you have about 2 and 1/2 cups (600ml) of juice. Strain the juice to remove any seeds or large bits of pulp for a smoother dessert.
  • Mix Cornstarch: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of the orange juice to create a slurry, ensuring there are no lumps.
  • Heat the Mixture: Pour the rest of the orange juice into a saucepan and add the honey. Warm over medium heat, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved.
  • Thicken the Dessert: Add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan while continuously stirring. Keep stirring over medium heat until the mixture thickens. This should take about 5 minutes.
  • Cool and Set: Once thickened, pour the mixture into dessert cups or a mold. Allow to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate until set. This will take about an hour.
  • Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish with desiccated coconut, candied cherries, and mint leaves for an extra touch of flavor and elegance.
